Costa del Golf

Due to a perfect climate, abundance of golf courses and a large number of luxury hotels Costa del Sol has been given a nickname Costa del Golf where both the professionals and the amateurs enjoy playing year in year out.

In this part of the southern coast of Spain the attractive beaches and the beauty of the mountains provide an ideal setting. Up to 325 sunny days a year and an average temperature of 22 degrees Celsius enables everyone to enjoy the beaches and the sun all year round.

No wonder that out of Andalusia's 60 golf-courses 30 of them are situated on the Costa del Sol! There are plenty to choose from, for example the Mijas golf-valley of 5600 hectares, includes six challenging courses with another six being planned. The organizers of the Ryder Cup chose to hold their distinguished competition on the Valderrama course in 1997.
